April 1 - April Fool’s Day

This year it was decided by the National Association of Pranksters (NAP) that April Fool’s Day should be moved to April 10 - to coincide with the patent of the first whoopee cushion. APRIL FOOLS! Don’t take anyone too seriously on this day or you might find yourself the butt of a joke. I’d double check all salt shakers and toilet seats if I were you, too!

April 3 - National Rainbow Day

Who doesn’t smile when they see a rainbow? The fractured light of those seven beautiful colors stretched across the sky makes you (even for just a split second) want to try and find the end to see if there is a pot of gold. April showers might bring May flowers, but they also bring rainbows!

April 5 - National Deep Dish Pizza Day

I vote this be a national day every day, but it can only be once a year - so do it up big! Dive into the cheesy, saucy goodness of a thick crust covered with all your favorite toppings. It doesn’t matter if you like pineapple, anchovies or just plain cheese, do it up! On National Deep Dish Pizza Day, who are we to judge!

April 6 - National Walking Day

Break out those tennis shoes and get to walking! Use this day to jump start your exercise routine or simply walk around the block and get some fresh air. Walking is a great form of exercise and according to the Mayo Clinic walking 30-60 minutes a day can change your health in many ways including strengthening your bones and muscles, increasing your energy levels, improving your mood, memory and sleep and reducing stress and tension. Just to name a few! So whether it’s on a treadmill, sidewalk or trail, get up and get some steps in today!

April 7 - National Burrito Day

Perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a late night snack, burritos are deliciousness wrapped in a tortilla! So versatile, so yummy, no matter what your taste or preference, there is a burrito for you! Don’t forget the chips and salsa to go with it!

April 9 - National Unicorn Day

The mythical creature with the majestic horn that has captured the hearts of so many definitely deserves a day to be recognized! According to the World History Encyclopedia the origin of the unicorn dates back to at least as far back as 400 BCE (or before the common, or current era). Today unicorns can be found on everything from t-shirts to lampshades. They come in all colors and sizes and sometimes their horns sparkle! While the hunt to find a unicorn IRL continues, if you are ever lucky enough to see a group of unicorns it’s called a blessing! How sweet is that?

April 10 - National Hug your Dog Day

Our four-legged friends are often more a part of the family than a pet. Their tail-waggin, slobbery happiness is clear whenever you come home. So give em a hug! It’s probably something you do almost every day anyway! And maybe along with the hug, give ‘em an extra scratch behind the ear, couple rounds of fetch or even another yummy treat to show how much you love them!

April 13 - National Scrabble Day

How many words have a q without a u? Can you get the triple word score? Whether you are a seasoned Scrabble pro, or lucky if you just add an s to the end of someone else’s word, the classic word-making game is the perfect way to exercise the mind and test your patience. I mean, how long can someone stare at the same seven tiles!

April 17 - Easter

Rejoice! Easter is the day Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The date changes from year to year - as it is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after March 21 (the first day of Spring).

April 18 - Tax Day

Typically not the most celebrated day of the year, Tax Day is the filing deadline for Americans to file their taxes from the previous year. So gather your receipts, get your paperwork in order and make an appointment with your accountant. Or, if you’re tech savvy, file online.

April 19 - Wear Pajamas to Work Day

After all the stress of Tax Day, we need a day to relax! And if we can’t stay home from work, at least we can dress comfortably! For those of us who still work virtually, dressing in pjs isn’t a big stretch from our normal work clothes, but being comfy at the office sounds like a treat! But maybe steer clear of footy pajamas.

April 21 - National High Five Day

What started out as a simple slapping of two people’s hands in celebration, has grown into multiple slaps and complicated dance moves. And we love it! The origin of the high five isn’t exactly known, but it is believed to have started in the late 1970s at a baseball game. Whether it’s one hand or two, it’s a great way to celebrate a grand slam, getting the sale or finishing the report on time. Say “good job” without saying anything at all!

April 22 - Earth Day

For the past 50 years, people around the globe have chosen this day to celebrate our planet. We are going to great lengths to keep it healthy by driving electric cars to cut down on gas emissions, switching to metal straws or bringing our own reusable bags to the store. There is no act too small to help protect the Earth for future generations.

April 27 - Administrative Professionals Day

Assistants, secretaries and administrative professionals do so much to keep offices running smoothly. Let’s celebrate them today! Some flowers, a nice lunch, a gift card to their favorite restaurant along with a great big thank you will show all our administrative professionals how much we care and appreciate them.

April 30 - National Honesty Day

This really should be something that is practiced every day, but today especially guard your words and speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Too bad we can’t see people’s noses grow when they tell a lie!
