Why You Need A Website and Not Just a Facebook Page

Updated: Mar 2

As a business owner you wear many hats. You are pulled in lots of directions. It can be hard to keep up. So, when a seemingly fast and easy method to market your business comes your way, you’re going to take it right?

While marketing your business on Facebook (or any type of social media) may appear to be the best way to be seen by potential customers or clients, having a website is better for you and your business in the long run.

Loss of control

Having a Facebook page for your business does not give you the right to put anything you want on the page. Furthermore, Facebook is trying to get back to the basics of being a site for people to meet, not businesses. So, your message may not be getting out to as many people as you think. Even without the use of Google ads, a website will get your business more traffic with a higher rate of return.

Lose customers

Not everyone has a Facebook account (or other social media accounts). When potential customers search for your business and find a Facebook page, they can immediately be turned off by their inability to access your business. Having a website allows everyone the ability to go to your site and find out more of what your business is about.

Ability to be creative

Facebook and other social media sites have a specific format all businesses must follow. Having your own website allows you to show off your creativity and what is unique about your business. Even the most basic of websites are more visually appealing than the standard Facebook business page.

Business credibility

A 2016 study by the Neilson Norman Group states businesses that have their own website are more likely to have credibility with customers. It allows customers to see what your business is all about before using your services or purchasing your products. Since all Facebook business pages look the same, your business and what you offer would blend into with all other similar businesses.

Why blend in when you can stand out!
